My 1970s childhood!!

Maybe it's the current austerity times we're in but my mind has been wandering back to when grown-ups stuff was something I didn't need to bother with ... the 1970s!!

I had a brilliant childhood and if our children can say the same then we must be doing something right don't you think?

So I've been digging around in the depths of the loft for treasures from my childish past and how glad am I that despite having 3 younger brothers my girlie toys were pretty much left to me to play with (unless of course Action Man or The Six Million Dollar Man needed some targets to aim at)!! I've had a blast unearthing some of the groovy (did we really use that word so much??) games and toys from an era of childish innocence, dodgy kids' telly, The Osmonds, Jackie magazine (sigh) oh and constant strikes, power cuts and incredible foggy days that meant school closed early - yippee!!

All this travelling back to everything 70's has inspired me to include photos of my finds in my blog and I think I'll use my old toys as props in my website photos from now on!

Enough waffle then and here she is, my beautiful Tiny Tears who arrived one Christmas in a cot handmade by my dad, dressed in knitted clothes made by mum and with frilly bedding (you guessed it) handmade by my nan - HOW excited was I?!

This was the ULTIMATE present for a 6 year old me and I'm so glad that I have such lovely memories of receiving her with all her handmade treasures! Naturally, I hankered for Teeny Tiny Tears the next Christmas and fear not, she too will be making an appearance (hopefully with much less wittering on)in my next blog post!

If you too had a much loved Tiny Tears I hope this has taken you a little way down memory lane and you're now grinning away remembering some of your treasured toys and the happy hours you spent with them!

Until next time then (and thanks for popping by) X X X

Stick with me ... this year I WILL learn to blog properly!!

From my very distinct lack of blogging, tweeting and limited facebooking anyone can see how little time I spend on techy things!!  Truth is, I love designing and making things FAR too much!!

WELL ... this year that will change and I promise to learn how to apply myself properly ;o)

Maybe I'm a little hard on myself as I am the only person who works on the website (and yes, I take the photos too!) but now that my boys are becoming teens and a 'little' more independant I am going to become more technologically savvie (that's my plan!)

Please stick with me and my musings - I'll be adding lots of photos of work in progress and orders ready to go to their new homes.

Here's what I was up to this morning on the sewing front - pirate bookends, butterflies and owls - yum xx

I've gone crazy for owls!!

Thank you so much to everyone who ordered our bunting - it's so lovely to make and is a really unique gift!

Alongside all my knitting and sewing, I've indulged my passion for owls (we have one in our garden and he often lets us know what he's up to during the night!!)

This has led to my newest design for personalised bookends and I'll have them on the website over the next few days

Our SPECIAL OFFER this month is for our Money Boxes - normally priced £32 they will have 15% off until 13th March!

A lovely glass of wine is beckoning now so you all have a fab weekend and huge thanks as ever for dropping by once more!

Our Knitted Bunting Offer

We started 2011 by offering 15% off our signature knitted bunting and this has been a great success - our knitting needles have been clicking away like mad!  With lots of new babies arriving over the last couple of months we've been inspired to add to our bunting selection and the softest cutest pastels and teddy bears will be available very very soon ... here's a quick peek!!

As everyone is (quite rightly) looking after their pennies just now we'll be offering monthly discounts on individual products - SO KEEP LOOKING!

Finally, we're really lucky to receive lots of lovely comments about our products and were so touched by this latest one: "Hi Linda, I have just received my daughters knitted bunting and it's lovely.  I ordered the same for my other two children when they were born.  I think they are a unique way to display their names in their bedrooms and have had lots of comments from friends."  How lovely is that??

And so January is nearly over with it's very British bleak skies but also the first signs that the sleepy bulbs are waking up and the days are getting a little longer - not long till Spring!!
Take care, Linda x

Re-Vamp in the Edenfields Designs Studio!

We're back from a wonderful time with family in snowy Northern Ireland and work has started on re-vamping our studio.  How lovely it feels to de-clutter and re-organise - the rest of the house beckons but I'm having too much fun in the studio!  Plus, I now have some gorgeous baskets and tins for storing the mountains of pretty 'bits' I use in my designs.

I've had a brilliant time collecting some beautiful ribbons, buttons, sparkles and felt in really stunning shades and can't wait to make use of them in the forthcoming weeks - keep watching as new designs will be appearing soon!

HOLIDAY WISHES FROM EDENFIELDS DESIGNS

We've had a really busy time here at Edenfields Designs and my brilliant family have been so supportive whilst we got all your precious Christmas orders out in time for the big day.  How special it feels to know that so many little boys and girls will have opened up a personalised gift made by us!  We hope everyone who follows us has had a truly lovely Christmas and wish you all a safe and happy 2010.

With the weather now warming a little and the snowmen slowly disappearing it's fantastic to make the most of the time off by enjoying long walks and talks with my family in the fresh air.  I shall be making the most of this special time and look forward to designing some gorgeous new pieces for you all throughout the coming year.

Take care everyone,
Linda

Baby Gifts with a Difference!

So now we're back into the school routine and the last few reminders of our 'Indian Summer' are fading! I love this time of year though - all the amazing autumn colours, sounds and smells make me feel like a big kid again. Our fabulous horse chestnut tree is promising a bumper crop of giant conkers this year (if the squirrels don't get them all first!!) and my boys are eagerly awaiting all those beautiful shiny treasures. Plus, our walnut trees and cooking apple trees have now yielded their crops which we have stored away for the coming months - lots of mouthwatering recipes to find!

Meanwhile, life in the Edenfields Designs studio is just as busy and fulfilling. Last weekend was spent out in the sunshine preparing lots of
money boxes and I have been sourcing lots of gorgeous bits and bobs to decorate them with. It gives me such pleasure to hear back from my customers on how much they love these little details!

Our personalised bookends range is really popular right now - how great to give a gift that inspires a lifelong love of books! Having said that, I know that a lot of you use them also for DVD's and CD's - such a neat idea.

Please keep checking in on our Blog - it's always nice to find out what we work-at-home mums are up to and to get to know them better. Remember too that a personalised handmade gift says so much about how much you care so why not give a gift to treasure for that forthcoming christening or birthday.

Gingerbread Houses are Yummy!!

I've had so many orders for my gingerbread house items recently.

Check them out - I adore making them! My lovely customers are ordering them as new baby and christening gifts - how special!!

So, here I am sitting in my studio busily working away on these cute gingerbread house bookends when .... thunder crashes and rain lashes down! What is happening to our summer sunshine?

Oh well, at least I can keep on adding sparkles and beading so now it feels as if it's a magical summer's day!
